In Ivory Coast, the FFL supports the Kaloukro Training Centre for Young Girls in order to promote the reintegration of young girls by offering them vocational training, particularly for young mothers.

The centre takes in young women aged between 14 and 30 who find themselves in vulnerable situations. Many of them are dealing with early pregnancy, exclusion from their family circle, failure at school and a profound lack of perspectives, all of which contribute to perpetuating a vicious circle of poverty.

The centre therefore runs several activities aimed at training and supporting learners in their personal and professional development. They receive technical training in various trades, including sewing, hairdressing and baking.

To ensure their well-being, the young women and their children also receive food, medical and psychological care, including consultations, health checks and regular follow-ups. The centre also has a nursery, which cares for an average of 15 children, allowing young mothers to pursue their training in good conditions.

Awareness sessions on sexual and reproductive health, women’s rights and hygiene are also organized in partnership with local organizations. At the same time, 13 entrepreneurship training sessions were held this year to strengthen young people’s management and economic initiative skills.

In 2024, 45 female learners continued their training at the Kaloukrou Training Centre for Young Girls, 10 of whom also received financial support to cover their learning costs for the duration of their internship. The year ended with a ceremony at which 12 young women received their certificates along with an end-of-training kit to facilitate their entry into the workforce.
