Global Citizenship Education
Inspired by Raoul Follereau’s work, the Fondation Follereau Luxembourg has been committed since its creation on December 7, 1966, to fighting all forms of exclusion with a desire to promote human solidarity. This is the guiding principle of all the NGO’s projects: to work towards the sustainable inclusion of vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and young people in various African communities, to effectively improve their living conditions and those of future generations.
The foundation works for and especially with the communities benefitting from the action programs with its African partner associations, taking into account local contexts, making beneficiaries actors of change and placing them at the heart of every action.
In addition to its projects on the African continent, the foundation deploys a Global Citizenship Education (GCE) program in Luxembourg and the Greater Region.
This program includes a variety of activities for all audiences aiming at raising awareness among the community in Luxembourg about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the activities of the Fondation Follereau. This program also pursues another major goal, which is to empower people to become actors of change for a more sustainable and fairer world, always adopting a community and participatory approach for every action taken.
In this context, workshops are regularly held by the foundation team, both in schools and at public events or upon request from youth clubs and daycare centers.
The activities are designed to be adaptable for different audiences, from the youngest to the elderly citizens.
The foundation also works in collaboration with other non-governmental organisations and organizes awareness campaigns, film screenings, exhibitions, and other events on specific themes.

Participation is free of charge, and workshops can be conducted in Luxembourg’s common languages.
An example of a workshop?
“Solidarity and unconscious biases“:
What are unconscious biases, and why do we have them? How can we prevent them from creating stereotypes and prejudices? This workshop invites young adults to pause and reflect before making judgments, emphasizing that our view of the world is subjective and shaped by our environment. Through interactive activities, students will explore concepts such as Eurocentrism, solidarity, discrimination, stereotypes, and social categorization.
Duration: 100 minutes
