For these reasons, the FFL is committed to reducing this North-South digital divide. This digital divide deprives a whole section of the population of access to information, knowledge and networks. This is why the foundation launched the Mind the Gap project.
Many young people in West Africa do not have the opportunity to receive practical computer lessons, even though these are included in school curricula, due to a lack of available equipment. To remedy this situation, the FFL collects computer and IT equipment from Luxembourg companies and sends them to its partners. Since 2011, thousands of computers have already been installed in hundreds of schools, enabling tens of thousands of children to receive training.
Also in 2024, our partners in Benin received a new container of computer equipment. Thanks to this delivery, 296 computers were prepared and configured for installation in partner schools.
We would like to thank the generous companies that worked alongside us on this project in 2024. Mind the Gap represents a logistical and coordination challenge due to the number of people involved in the project and the constraints associated with IT equipment.
