In the past, the FFL was only involved in Togo in the field of health, through the AAT-FFL community health program. It was not until 2022 that the FFL and its partner decided, together, to also become involved in education in Togo, with the construction of the Anié learning center.

This center contributes to the training and socio-economic integration of disadvantaged and out-of-school youth in the Plateaux region. Thanks to this project, carried out in partnership with AAT-FFL, 45 young people are currently pursuing their apprenticeships in one of three workshops: men’s and women’s tailoring, women’s braiding, and aluminum carpentry.

The year 2024 was characterized by several notable advances: the assignment of new teachers by the Ministry, the arrival of head of works, and regular evaluations of trainers and learners.  The stable number of learners reflects both the relevance of the project and the motivation of the young beneficiaries.

To better prepare young people for the realities of the field, internships were organized at the end of the year in 14 partners workshops. These experiences helped strengthen ties between the center, local artisans, and apprentices, while putting the knowledge they had acquired into practice.

Despite these advances, accessibility to the center remains a challenge during the rainy season, when the road sometimes become impassable. Development work is planned to ensure that learners can continue to attend the center regularly, even during this period.
