A renewed commitment to access to water in Benin
Access to safe drinking water and decent sanitation remains a fundamental issue for public health, particularly for women and the most vulnerable groups. Aware of these challenges, the association Les Amis des Lépreux de Rodange renewed its long-standing commitment alongside the Follereau Luxembourg Foundation in 2025.
Thanks to this strong partnership, initiatives have been supported in the countries where the Foundation operates to improve access to water, sanitation and hygiene within ongoing projects.
In line with this, the association has decided to continue its support in 2026. The objective is clear: to bring about a sustainable improvement in access to drinking water and sanitation services for local communities.
This support contributes in particular to the construction of boreholes, as well as the establishment of infrastructure and initiatives promoting hygiene, particularly among the most isolated communities. These essential initiatives help to reduce the prevalence of disease, promote better hygiene practices and improve the living conditions of local people, particularly those of women and girls.
The steadfast commitment of Les Amis des Lépreux provides invaluable support to these communities, who continue to face daily challenges in accessing safe water and a safer environment.

The cheque was presented at the General Meeting of the Friends of the Lepers on 14 March 2026, symbolising this partnership and reaffirming the shared commitment to taking concrete action for a fairer future.
