70 years of solidarity: Fieldgen School and the Follereau Luxembourg Foundation celebrate a historic partnership

In 2026, Follereau Week marks a special anniversary: 70 years of partnership between Fieldgen School and the Follereau Luxembourg Foundation. Organised annually at the school, Follereau Week is a week of awareness-raising and solidarity during which pupils come together to support projects run by the foundation. On this occasion, local partners of the foundation who implement the projects on the ground are regularly invited to speak and engage with the pupils.

Since 1956, pupils, teachers, parents and alumni have taken part in this initiative, continuing the commitment initiated by Raoul Follereau, who himself used to visit the pupils to talk to them about the fight against leprosy and solidarity.

Over the decades, this collective effort has raised over one million euros for projects supported by the Fondation Follereau Luxembourg.

A focus on Côte d’Ivoire

For this 70th edition, the initiative is supporting the Maison de l’Enfance de Bouaké, a care centre established in 2009 in Côte d’Ivoire. Working alongside local partners, this project supports children and young people aged 5 to 18 who are living on the streets or in highly vulnerable situations.

To mark the anniversary of Follereau Week, Fieldgen School will also have the honour of welcoming two project partners from Côte d’Ivoire, as well as Kiyali Samuel Ouattara, a former beneficiary of the Maison de l’Enfance de Bouaké. Now aged 21 and studying fine art in Abidjan, he will come to meet the pupils and lead an art workshop at the school. His presence will serve as a tangible testament to the impact of the projects supported for 70 years by the solidarity of the Fieldgen community.

For seven decades, Follereau Week has borne witness to the spirit of solidarity passed down from generation to generation within the Fieldgen community.
