Tête à Tête – A solidarity exhibition in a hairdressing salon

In Esch-sur-Alzette, the Fondation Follereau Luxembourg is joining forces with the byTun hairdressing salon to present ‘Tête à Tête’, an exhibition that gives a voice to young girls in Côte d’Ivoire. Through their portraits and personal accounts, they tell how vocational training in hairdressing and dressmaking has enabled them to rebuild their lives and pave the way for a better future.
In certain regions of Côte d’Ivoire, many young girls – often young mothers – find themselves without support and without access to formal education. Early pregnancies, family exclusion and dropping out of school plunge them into precarious situations, reducing their prospects for the future. Thanks to the Centre de Formation de la Jeune Fille (CFJF) in Kaloukro, supported by the Fondation Follereau Luxembourg, they are acquiring the skills they need to become independent and regain their self-confidence.
But the training does not stop at learning a trade. At the centre, they also benefit from comprehensive support: literacy classes, psychological support, medical care and even a nursery for their children. By offering them these tools, the Fondation Follereau Luxembourg and its partners are enabling these young women to pave the way for a future in which they are the protagonists of their own destiny.

The ‘Tête à Tête’ exhibition highlights five of these young women through their portraits and personal accounts. In the warm atmosphere of the byTun exhibition, their eyes and words resonate. This initiative also highlights the importance of international solidarity and the role that everyone can play, in their own way, to support these young women on their journey.
Admission is free: come and discover these portraits and be touched by their stories. Together, let’s draw the lines for a future where every young girl has the means to choose her own path. Visit the byTun hairdressing salon, 109 rue de l’Alzette, L-4011 Esch-sur-Alzette, until 27 April 2025.
