{"id":8187,"date":"2025-11-12T15:38:33","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T14:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ffl.lu\/?post_type=projets&#038;p=8187"},"modified":"2025-11-17T11:21:34","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T10:21:34","slug":"community-health-programme-togo","status":"publish","type":"projets","link":"https:\/\/ffl.lu\/en\/projets\/health\/community-health-programme-togo\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Health Programme (Togo)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>In October, part of the FFL team travelled to Togo for a field mission to facilitate exchanges with the local team and observe the progress of activities and projects carried out there.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to WHO health standards, any locality located more than 5 km from a health facility with a population of 5,000 inhabitants must have a healthcare facility. <strong>However, in Togo, many localities that meet these criteria still lack local healthcare services.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2014, the FFL has been supporting a health programme in the Maritime and Plateaux regions thanks to the Association des amis togolais de la FFL (AAT-FFL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like other programmes mentioned above, it focuses on promoting family and community health, particularly maternal and child health, through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the construction of health centres and boreholes in villages to provide access to drinking water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> an awareness-raising and infectious disease prevention component<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> the construction of infection diseases prevention facilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>access to care for newborns and pregnant women at the time of delivery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, a <strong>new peripheral care unit (PCU)<\/strong> was inaugurated in Modokout\u00e9, comprising a building dedicated to healthcare, two staff residences, an incinerator, toilets, a sanitary area and a borehole equipped with a photovoltaic system to ensure a sustainable supply of drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>awareness-raising component aims to promote health education<\/strong> in schools adjacent to the PCUs. 3,500 pupils, teachers and parents in the Modokout\u00e9 and H\u00e9dj\u00e9gan&nbsp; areas took part in sessions on good hygiene practices and the use of handwashing facilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although the overall health situation in Togo has stabilized and Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted, 2024 was marked by the emergence of cholera cases.
