{"id":8144,"date":"2025-11-12T15:26:02","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T14:26:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ffl.lu\/?post_type=projets&#038;p=8144"},"modified":"2025-11-17T11:15:05","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T10:15:05","slug":"community-health-programme-benin","status":"publish","type":"projets","link":"https:\/\/ffl.lu\/en\/projets\/health\/community-health-programme-benin\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Health Programme (Benin)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Since 2013, the FFL has been supporting this community health programme, implemented by our representative office in Benin in partnership with local authorities and aimed at improving the health of community in the long term, with a particular focus on maternal and child health.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, the programme has made it possible to :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Improve access to healthcare for newborns and pregnant women, in particular through the opening of a new maternity ward<\/strong> in the town of Konkondji (Savalou-Bant\u00e8 health zone) and the distribution of 255 baby kits containing essential items.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strenghten local healthcare provision<\/strong> in the isolated maternity wards of Kitikpli, Konkondhi and Lokpodji.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Promoting access to vaccination services<\/strong>, with 4,300 people vaccinated in partner health centres<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Providing care for people living with HIV (PLHIV),<\/strong> particularly mother-child couples, through medical care, awareness campaigns and psychological support. This year, the sessions enabled 285 people to be screened, of whom two tested positive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Support 723 children suffering from malnutrition<\/strong> through appropriate medical follow-up and awareness-raising sessions with families on balanced nutrition. In Benin, 45% of deaths among children under the age of 5 are due to malnutrition (Source: UNICEF, 2020)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Supporting people with disabilities<\/strong> through physical rehabilitation sessions in a dedicated care facility, distributing school kits to keep children with disabilities in the school system, and providing financial support for the development of income-generating activities (IGAs) for their parents, who are often disabled themselves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Preventing infectious diseases <\/strong>through awareness-raising activities on good hygiene practices in ten villages, reaching 3,281 people, and through the construction of boreholes to provide access to drinking water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Benin, access to healthcare remains a challenge, particularly in rural areas, where medical facilities are often far from people living in rural areas and are under-equipped. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8145,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","sorte":[1308],"le_pays":[1312],"class_list":["post-8144","projets","type-projets","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","sorte-health","le_pays-benin-4"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
