{"id":8053,"date":"2025-11-12T14:11:58","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T13:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ffl.lu\/?post_type=projets&#038;p=8053"},"modified":"2025-11-17T10:57:39","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T09:57:39","slug":"combating-child-trafficking-in-northern-benin","status":"publish","type":"projets","link":"https:\/\/ffl.lu\/en\/projets\/welfare\/combating-child-trafficking-in-northern-benin\/","title":{"rendered":"Combating child trafficking in Northern Benin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>For more than 10 years, the FFL has been working to combat child trafficking and promote children\u2019s personal development, in collaboration with two partner NGOs: PIED (Programme d\u2019Insertion des Enfants D\u00e9sh\u00e9rit\u00e9s) and APEM (Association pour la Protection de l\u2019Enfance Malheureuse) in 16 villages around the municipalities of Djougou and Parakou. In November 2024, a new project to combat trafficking was also launched by the Beninese government, in partnership with the Luxembourg Embassy, in the departments of Zou and Couffo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;In this context, the project supports <strong>schooling for younger children<\/strong> (under 14) and <strong>vocational training for older children<\/strong> to help them reintegrate into society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, <strong>168 children were welcomed into the residential centres supported by the FFL.<\/strong> Each child received comprehensive care, including three meals a day and temporary accommodation. Following an in-depth social investigation, 159 of them were able to be reintegrated into their family environment. Among them, <strong>50 children under the age of 14<\/strong> were able to return to school with the support of school kits for the 2024-2025 school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, 80 children identified as particularly vulnerable received support in kind and\/or in cash enabling them to have breakfast every day, and for girls, to access sanitary protection. Thirty young people were able to enroll in vocational training. Follow-up visits were carried out throughout the year, ensuring continuous support for children who were admitted, reintegrated or in apprenticeships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The cultural practice of placement or entrusting aims to mitigate the effects of poverty by placing children from poor families with other, more affluent members of the family.
